Call for Workshop Proposals

Finding our Roots
Anarchist Theory Conference
Chicago, IL
April 27-29, 2007

Deadline for submissions March 10, 2007

This conference is the first in a series and focuses on anarchist theory. Future conferences will focus on community organizing and direct action. This event hopes to serve as a way for us to get together, share stories, exchange information, and most importantly discuss revolution and how to make it happen. Organizing is underway, and we are seeking proposals for possible workshop topics. Time slots for workshops are one hour long. This includes any Q and A or discussion time.

What we are looking for
·   Workshops that address historical aspects of anarchy (Emma Goldman, Spanish Civil War, Paris Commune)
·   Workshops that address recent or developing theories of anarchism (anarcha-feminism, anarchy and race, green anarchy, indigenous movements)
·   Workshops about the basics of anarchist theory
·   Advanced workshops
·   Workshops presented by women, people of color, disabled, genderqueer, and other marginalized or underrepresented groups
·   Workshops that involve direct participation by attendees
·   Workshops that foster long-term strategy building and future action
·   Workshops that help to build respect, solidarity, and communication among activists and groups of activists

Please send the following information to chicagoanarchisttheory[at]riseup.net
·   Your name or group’s name
·   Contact info
·   Name of workshop
·   Detailed statement of workshop’s main ideas and format
·   Necessary materials we would need to supply (DVD player, overhead, etc.)

We will respond to all submissions by March 17 to confirm.
